The Corps looks for potential. Education is important
but in the sense that it’s a problem solving, logical
process. The Corps pays her Officers to think and make decisions.
Attitude is more important than anything. With the ability to
think, decide, and act, we can teach you the skills you need
to know, whether that be in math, communications, or any other
job you get placed into.
So the best education is a well rounded one with a
focus on technical (for the logical base, not just the specific
field). That’s why I chose technical communications (an
engineering degree) with a minor in psychology. Dealing with
people is another very important skill; some might argue the
most valuable since being a leader means you know how to interact
with people on all levels.
