Another Day In Court

Quote of the Day: “”I’m just livin’ the dream.”

- EUCOM staffer response to the question, “How’s it going?” or, “What are you doing?”

Today should be easy to write about because there’s not much I can say. I’m a board member to another court martial (military jury duty) so obviously, I can’t discuss the case.

But I can discuss how uncomfortable it is to sit in my service “B” uniform all day. It’s this uniform,

LCPL Grose, 1989

… although 18 years has changed it’s dimensions a bit. Being packed in “bravos” all day, sitting down, is not a lot of fun and reminds me to keep working out. It’s pretty tough to hide your slothy nature when you can see every curve in a tight uniform.

When we are in the jury room, we are not allowed to discuss the case until all evidence has been presented so we are sent back there for whatever reason and can’t discuss ANYTHING we just heard. So we end up talking about everything but the case to include iPods, satellite radio, Nick and Jessica, Britney and Kevin, military tactics, raising kids, old war stories, old uniform stories (like the time I ignorantly had my gold stripes meant for my blues sewed onto my service “A” coat), and a potpourri of other subjects that most people would be shocked that a collection of Marine Officers ranging from a full bird Colonel to Captains would discuss.

Maybe one of the funniest was when I asked who had the longest tied tie. After everyone sheepishly smiled a knowing smile, the winner was another Captain with a 10-year-old knot. I could have beat him if I hadn’t retied mine a couple of years ago!!!!
