Like a Fire Fight, I Should Empty the Magazine (Basket)

Quote of the Day: “Dance like it hurts,/ Love like you need money,/ Work when people are watching.”

- Scott Adams

My magazine situation is has been out of control for a long time.

I subscribe to the following magazines:

Runner’s World
Smart Computing
PC
PC World

I used to also subscribe to Maximum PC and I also somehow inherited some of my son’s Mental Floss monthlies.

This wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have stacks and stacks and stacks …. and stacks of them hanging around unread.

I know I’ve blogged about this before but with my new productivity kick, it seems I would get a handle on this. But All I’ve really done is gather them (again) and said “yep, that’s a mighty big pile.”

I know the early ones are going to be comical. The computer industry moves so quick that the “hot new items” from years past are going to seem like Pong.

Carrie wants me to get rid of them because she can’t stand clutter. Our running joke goes something like this.

“Hey, Babe, you got a new magazine in today.”

“Oh, good, I was waiting for that…”

The kids just tease me (the latest is Alex mockingly saying “Look, they just released something called Windows XP!”).

I won’t even ask any of you because all you’ll say is get rid of them and start new.

But I can’t. I have to at least peruse them.

Nothing like a big guilt mound in my office to remind me that I have so much unfinished reading business.

Oh, and right there on top is a Trailrunner.

That I bought off the stand.

When I was in Borders a few months ago.

Carrie about flipped.

Free Advice for Today: “Call your local police department and ask about riding with an officer on night patrol.”
