Quote of the Day: “The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds; and the pessimist fears this is true.”

- James Branch Cabell

It looks like I will be spending some time back in my favorite place in the whole entire world: Quantico Virginia.

As you know, I am going to be deployed soon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and before I go, I get to get some specialized training so special, I’m not even sure what it is.

But what I do know is that it is three weeks in that great place I just love. Awwww, Quantico in June and July.

Without my family.

I haven’t had that much fun since I was there for TBS all alone.

So here is how it looks. I have to be there June 9th. Yes, three days before my daughter’s birthday, a week before my wife’s birthday, a 8 days after the Rock and Roll Marathon I am required to work in San Diego.

Work out the math, people, it sucks.

So then I get three wonderful weeks of some kind of training which will bring me right up to the 4th of July holiday. Far be it from them to ship us out to Saudi on the auspicious celebration so they are gonna let us fester stay put for the holiday and ship us out afterwards.

Looks like my 12 month deployment just turned into the 13 month variety.

Lemonade:

- At least I’ll get to see the new Marine Corps museum.
- I get to hang with Sir Phil and throw up on his new deck for Independence Day
- I can see how the owners of my old house like it
- I can do sentimental runs like The Loop and TBS
- I can visit OCS and thank the good Lord I’m not still there
- I can visit my old TBS room and thank the good Lord I’m not still there
- I can visit my old work cubicle at TECOM and thank the good Lord I’m not still there
- I can eat at Poncho Villas
- I can get a kick-ass haircut from the Vietnamese barber shop
- I can hang out at Gargoyles, the coffee shop I lived at during TBS
- I could ride the rails on a day pass and wander around DC

Free Advice for Today: “Order a seed catalogue. Read it on the day of the first snowfall.”
