Hairy Post Of No Consequence

Quote of the Day: “I am prepared to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.”

- Sir Winston Churchill

This is driving me nuts.

How does hair know to stop growing?

Head hair will grow as long as you let it.

But arm and leg hair stops at a certain point. In fact, all body hair stops growing except head hair.

And if you shave it all, everything will grow back and stop, except head hair which will continue.

How does it KNOW how long it is in order for it to stop?

  1. it’s based on the NEED that hair is serving…
we cover our arms and legs more so than our heads…..

so we have more of a NEED for hair on our head than on our arms and legs…

or at least so says my A&P teacher.. lol

i shave everything except my head,..
maybe that’s why i’m cold all the time though…

  2. But how does it KNOW to stop growing? What stimulus at the end senses how long it is and makes the growing stop?
