And here I come down the finishing chute with a PR
of 5:21:47.. |
 |
Sir Phil was amazingly right behind me even though
I never saw him after 3 minutes into the race. He came in
maybe a minute after me but somehow they recorded his finishing
time as 5:30:08. But they ALWAYS screw up his time. |
 |
The happy finishers of the 2003 Lone Pine Wild
Wild West Marathon. A few years back, this would have been
a picture of the Executive Officer of 1st Tank Battalion
and his trusty Adjutant. |
 |
Now in a stunning display of enduring camaraderie,
we will summon our powers to metamorphosis the other two
Horsemen in a symbol of unity. Ready.... |
 |
KAZAAM!!! We have summoned the spirits of the
Horsemen Conglomerate. The pixilated is due to our strained
powers (give us a break, we just finished an arduous marathon!)
|
 |
Sir Phil with his "Mission Impossible"
shirt that he always runs in. The graphic is of a naked,
fat-bellied couple whose girth prevents them from... having
relations. |
 |
An attempt I knew would fail with the cheap camera. |
 |
A better shot with the digital camera back at
the car. Eat it, Beaten Zone! |
 |
The afternoon turned stunning as I snapped a few parting
shots back at the start when I returned to pick up my car. |
 |
In another direction, a reminder that the spooky
clouds still made their presence known. |
 |
I just couldn't get enough of the scenery. I will
miss this race when I move East. |
 |
The clouds seemed to stretch on forever. This
is looking east, away from the mountains and what you can't
tell is that it is a steep downward slope. Coming from this
direction used to be the last mile of the race. |
 |
More mountains as I lost control of my "enough
is enough" functionality. |
 |
Goodbye Lone Pine. Thanks for the races and the
memories. |
